API and AFAS integrations built around your process

Connect your systems around the work your team does

Your store, customer portal and administration often use the same information. Yet your team still checks prices, retypes orders or investigates why data does not match. Qualide helps you build API integrations around the work your people do. With AFAS, Laravel and Magento, we connect the processes and systems involved.

Start with the process, then connect the systems

We begin with a specific task: how does a customer place an order, where is the price determined and who handles an exception? We then establish which system owns customer, product, stock and order data. An integration only solves the problem when those responsibilities are clear.

Your people are part of this work. Sales, administration and warehouse staff see different obstacles. Using examples from their daily tasks, we identify what can be automated and where someone still needs to make a decision. This makes the initial scope understandable and testable.

AFAS integration for your store or customer portal

For an AFAS integration, we look at customer information, pricing agreements and order data. What is available, who may access it and when does it need updating? We first review the existing configuration and available connectors with your AFAS administrator or partner.

Customer-specific prices must reach the right customer. For stock, we agree on what the store should show and how fresh the information needs to be. For orders, we define when an order is received, processed or rejected and who follows up on an error. Support for particular data depends on your configuration and the permissions available.

B2Bshop: connecting AFAS with the ordering process

For B2Bshop, we worked with Improvit on an existing Laravel B2B platform. The collaboration covered the AFAS integration, customer-specific pricing, order information and a customer dashboard. Multilingual support and everyday use by business customers were also part of the ongoing development.

Improvements were driven by more than technical tickets. Conversations with end users and Improvit helped us understand obstacles and set priorities. Changes were tested with users before release. Our contribution focused on Laravel development and translating customer processes into software; Improvit contributed AFAS expertise.

An existing connector or custom development?

An off-the-shelf integration can be suitable when its supported data and workflow match your process. We first review what is already available. Custom development is an option when customer agreements, your ordering process or multiple systems fall outside those capabilities.

Laravel can provide a separate process layer. Magento can remain the sales platform while specific processing happens outside the store. The choice depends on ownership, maintenance and what your team needs. Explore our Laravel development and Magento development services.

Make errors visible and agree on recovery

We also discuss what happens when a system is temporarily unavailable, a product code is missing or a request arrives twice. Who sees the error? Can processing be restarted? How do we prevent the same order from being created twice unintentionally? These situations belong in the scope, rather than being left until after release.

We agree on appropriate access permissions, logging and maintenance. In a test environment, we check representative data flows and exceptions. Personal data is limited to what the agreed checks require. After handover, it should be clear who follows up on changes to connectors, systems and data structures.

From an initial conversation to a working data flow

The first step is an overview of the systems, the desired process and the main obstacles. We then select a defined data flow to implement and review with your team. Before rollout, we agree on acceptance criteria, a rollback option and handover. Further expansion follows what proves necessary in practice.

What does an API or AFAS integration cost?

The scope depends on the number of systems and data flows, the available connectors, existing code and source data quality. Exceptions, feedback and maintenance also affect the work. Connecting one flow is different from building a customer portal with pricing agreements and order statuses. We therefore establish the scope together before agreeing on the effort required.

Bring an example order, the names of the systems involved and your main obstacle. We can deliver a defined integration or join your existing team as a senior developer. For background, read our practical guide to AFAS integrations.
